Sri Lanka Golf has been awarded the hosting rights for the APGC Junior Championship 2026 by the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation.
The championship will be conducted at the Royal Colombo Golf Club from 17th to 19th June 2026. This marks a significant milestone for Sri Lanka as the host nation of one of the most prestigious junior golf tournaments in the Asia-Pacific region.
15 participating countries: Singapore, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, India, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Myanmar, Oman, Qatar, Jordan, Malaysia, United Arab Emirates, Philippines and Sri Lanka.
This event will bring together the region's leading junior golfers and provide valuable international exposure for Sri Lanka while contributing positively to sports tourism and the promotion of the country as a destination for international sporting events.
The Championship will have the following events:
Individual Boys and Girls, Boys Team and Girls Team and Mixed Team.
Eligible players are boys and girls amateur golfers who are 17 years old and under as of 17 June 2026 representing their countries.
Competition Format
The Championship will be played over 54 holes at the Royal Colombo Golf Club, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The Championship will be in stroke play. Teams are made up of the following: -
Mixed Team Competition: One male and one female player from each country and the aggregate gross score of both players will be the team’s score. Lowest teams scores after 54 holes will be recognized as team champions. Players of the team must be specified before the start of the championship.
Boys Team Competition: Two male players from each country and the aggregate gross score of both players will be the team’s score. Lowest teams scores after 54 holes will be recognized as team champions.
Girls Team Competition: Two female players from each country and the aggregate gross score of both players will be the team’s score. Lowest teams scores after 54 holes will be recognized as team champions.
The lowest 54-hole individual score from both boys and girl’s division will also be recognized as individual champions.
64 players in total. Sri Lanka will be represented by 4 teams in the boys and girls. Junior golfers from Colombo, Kandy, Anuradhapura and Nuwara Eliya will make up Sri Lanka's junior team.
